The Best Planned Localities of Pakistan: Model Town Lahore

Today we are going to feature Model Town, Lahore as one of the best planned localities of Pakistan. In the past we’ve featured North Nazimabad, Karachi and Eight bazaars of Faisalabad in the same series.

As an spanish architect, it´s surprising for me, perhaps due to my ignorance, how high is the level of Urban Planning in some areas of Pakistan. One of the best areas, of a inarguable global interest is Model Town, even with its lacks of communications, security and control.
I must confess i love Lahore, the most charming big town in the world, tough unfortunately almost unknown in the west, hidden in the middle of the media noise. Sometimes i reckon that if some people that write stupid opinions in the west media would had taken the trouble of a short trip to Pakistan, they could know the truth of the hospitalary and close pakistanis, always warm and respectful to foreing visitors. I´m planning to undertake a comprehensive work about old and modern architecture in Lahore, but frankly i don´t know which official body i have to adress to. May someone help me with some details?

I am resident of Model town Lahore. I have keen interest in urban development, heritage, conservation and architecture. I can guide you in your pursuit towards understanding architecture of Lahore.
Search on internet for Architect Kamil khan Mumtaz, Prof. Vandal, National college of Arts Lahore, Nayyer ali Dada, Aga khan foundation, Lahore Heritage society, IAP (Institute of Archhiitect). Bhai Ram Singh (for Architecture of Raj period), Faqir Aijazuddin (for execelent narratives about Lahore)
