Today we are going to feature Model Town, Lahore as one of the best planned localities of Pakistan. In the past we’ve featured North Nazimabad, Karachi and Eight bazaars of Faisalabad in the same series.
Model town is designed with very symmetric geometry. The area of Model Town is 5.9 square kilometers (or 1463 acres). see and read more ….

Why electricity is more expensive in model town than any other area in Lahore?
#1 reason: corruption

The installed president of the Model Town society, Tahir Hussain Kardar the retired Colonel from the Pakistan army, has given 15 thousands rupee to every resident, just before the general body meeting. In which they want to amend the By-Laws of the society to facilitate the building plans of the multinational company (makro). which otherwise not allowed. The intention behind giving money to the residents is quite clear, its a bribe !
Immorality and Deception: read item 5 of agenda. This is a big fat lie, that model town society requested and “makro” changed its plans. The fact is that “makro” didn’t change anything for model town, go visit other makro branch in Lahore and you will find out how much place they reserve for the parking.
corrupt: model town administration, judges. who are they to lease and commercialize the grounds. Who gave them that mandate?

The much-awaited, five-star community centre for Model Town residents has been put on hold due to the ongoing monsoon rains, Model Town Society (MTS) officials told Daily Times on Wednesday.
An official said that a Faisalabad-based firm had been given the contract for the Rs 270 million project, the first of its kind in the city. He said the construction started 45 days later than scheduled and the contractors had only dug up the basement for the 80,000-square-feet community centre before rains flooded it.
The official said that these days, labourers were spending most of their time pumping water out of the construction site with equipment that the MTS administration had provided them. Read the rest of this entry »
